This week has started very well, Just finishing off some editing from the product shoot on Friday I did for Misha Rugs. This was a much harder shoot than I expected, being that the rugs are hand made, the pile is tightly packed and the camera picks up things the eye can't see! Lynne from Misha originally booked 3 hours but we ended up taking 6 and had to finish the shoot the next day! above are some of the shots.

I was also asked to take some shots for my friend and business associate Mike Waterton who opened his New cafe in Tunbridge Wells Kent.

Camden Perk is at 120 camden rd Tunbridge wells and has a wonderful array of teas and coffees together with home made cupcakes and tasty bacon rolls etc, just right for that mid morning snack!

Crowborough Photowalk

This coming Saturday the 16th July, sees the start of the first Crowborough Photowalk. In a joint event with Photoshoot studio hire and Nova Photograph,. come along and enjoy a few hours of photography.  
the theme is Wheels and Colour which should tie in nicely with the Bus Stop event at the  exhibiting over 200 classic VWs.

Entry is £2.50 and the best of the shots will be displayed in 3 locations, The Old Firestation Cafe Crowborough, Nova photography in Eridge and the Gallery at Photoshoot Studio Hire in Southborough.

Anybody can join in all you need is a camera, which could be a phone camera or a full frame Dslr it's up to you.

Exhibition space required?

Photoshoot studio hire is in the unique position of having a small but perfectly formed Gallery for you to exhibit your work. In particular I am offering the chance for a Photographer or a group of photographers  to showcase their work.


All I require is that you provide and hang Framed pieces of your work with the details of the shot, the price  your name and any other relevant detail. There is no exhibition fee only a 20% commission on the sale. You can have prints as large as 2.4meters x 6meters or as small as 25mmx55mm it's up to you, and your work will be on show to the public on a monthly rotation basis. You don't have to be a pro photographer anybody can exhibit! 


So if you have the ability and want to show the world what it is you do, drop in and have a chat or contact me, I am looking forward to hearing from you.

With costs going up all the time, especially for students trying to learn their craft, photoshoot studio hire recognises that access to affordable facilities is a must. 

With this in mind, any student wanting to book studio time at their school or collage can not only be hampered by the lack of space and facilities, but also by the time that their studio is available.

At photoshoot studio hire we mostly cater for portrait/family/group shots, but did you also know that we have facilities available for you to take your own product shots!

In studio 1 we have the corner infinity cove and the 3 meter backdrop system, but we also have a 1meter by 1.2 meter product table, perfect for your eBay products, jewellery, food or any other small item which needs to be photographed at their best! 

This product/infinity table is included in the hire charge of just £25ph and can make all the difference in producing high quality images for you products.

Mums & Dads

Want to do something different with the Kids? Come and book our studio and take your own Fantastic photos of your children. All you need is a Camera, we supply the rest for only £25ph. 


No camera no problem, hire the studio with a professional Canon Camera for only £30ph! and because you take the pictures you keep them, all of them!


For an hours shoot you would normally be able to take 100-150 photos and there will always a member of staff on hand to help and guide you on your way to making some fabulous memories.

Open to all ages, this is your change to show how you see Southborough. All entries will be displayed in the Gallery at photoshoot studio hire between the 21st of May and the 4th of June, where they will be judged by public vote, closing date is the 7th of May 2011.


The winner gets to choose one of the following:

• An unframed A3 Print of their photograph or
• The chance to use studio 1 at photoshoot studio hire for an hour

Entries must be a print (Colour or Black and White) and no bigger then A4, one print per person.

West Kent networking Event

Tuesday night saw the first WKN event to be held at the studio, and it was a complete success! I was very surprised at the number of people who came (42 in all)  and I hope that many new contacts where made. The idea for this event was for people to bring along some of their products to 'show' what it is they do.
4 local business people exhibited, Carl Abrams landscape photographer, Amanda Wells balloon Artist, Yvonne Everything cupcakes, Janet Penny portrait photographer,.

It has shown me that the need for these types of events for local business people, is very worth doing, and I will be arranging another one for later in the year. All of these lovely people I have got to know through Twitter. i have found it to be a very useful business tool but also a great social tool. had I not embraced this technology, it would have taken so much more time to reach people.

Now that I have done my first one i know that getting the local community involved is not only rewarding, it is also necessary. Photoshoot studio hire is partly funded by Town & Country and this has given the company access to people and local businesses that I would not have been able to use without their help! My local Cafe 'Bliss cafe' run by local business woman Elaine Lawrence, provided all the catering needed for the event. bliss is also funded by T&C and we often help each other, this is just a small example of how local businesses can help each other.

Just so you know, I did get some business on the night so for me the whole event was very worth while. as I said I will be hosting another event in the future and I hope to get the same response.

Introduction to Using Your Camera in the Studio

TRAINING SESSION BY Thomas Truscott Wednesday 25th May 2011, it will be priced at £50 per person

The aim of this workshop is to enable you to set-up and use the photographic studio for portraiture.

You will be able to:

• Select and set-up basic lighting arrangements.

• Obtain correct exposures through using a lightmeter.

• Set-up your camera for studio conditions and using a radio flash trigger.

• Pose and work effectively with your model.

The style of the workshop will be informal, with a high practical content. You will be encouraged to ask questions and perform basic tasks in order to gain confidence and experience. Places will be limited to 6 people to enable everyone to have some hands-on time. You should be willing to help others in the group and share roles of assisting, modelling and photographing as this will enable you to gain understanding from different perspectives.
